Google News Initiative supports LatAm journalists to participate in the NPMC Spring 2024 Cohort

GNI will sponsor 7 news professionals from Latin America to participate in the inaugural cohort of the NPMC program.

The News Product Alliance is thrilled to share that the Google News Initiative will support the participation of seven Latin American journalists in the inaugural cohort of the News Product Management Certification (NPMC) program created in partnership with the J+ program at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY and News Catalyst.

The NPMC is a rigorous, part-time, and virtual program designed for mid to senior-level news professionals that brings together a diverse cohort of 30 participants from across the global news industry. Our exclusive program is designed for news professionals to gain the product strategy, technical expertise, and change management skills necessary to lead news product development and innovation.

Thanks to the Google News Initiative, seven product thinkers from Latin America will join the first cohort of the program, which will run from January to April 2024.

“With a growing diverse pool of professionals well-versed in product management frameworks, news organizations can build more diverse and innovative products and services that provide real value for their audiences while maximizing limited resources and reinforcing sustainable business solutions. Thanks to the Google News Initiative we can lower the barrier of access to best-in-class training for Latin American participants and help build a healthier news ecosystem in the region”, said Feli Carrique, Executive Director of the News Product Alliance.
