Where Can the NPMC Program Take You? Just Ask Our Alumni
When we launched the News Product Management Certification (NPMC) at the News Product Alliance, our goal was simple but ambitious: to prepare the next generation of news product leaders with the tools, skills, and support to thrive. That vision is being realized across newsrooms and organizations around the world.
Our alumni are not just taking on bigger roles—they’re building innovative products, driving strategy at the highest levels, and helping their teams navigate digital transformation. Whether they came from editorial, audience, or tech backgrounds, they left the program with something in common: the confidence and capability to lead with a product mindset.
Here are just a few of the inspiring paths our alumni have taken:
Marcela Duarte turned her NPMC capstone project into a real-world product—LupaScan, which just won Best Innovative Digital Product (Small/Local) at the Digital Media Awards Americas 2025.
Darla Cameron is now Chief Product Officer at the Texas Tribune, leading product strategy at one of the U.S.’s most respected nonprofit newsrooms.
Elina Paasonen was named Chief Product Officer at Yle, Finland’s national broadcaster, taking on an even broader responsibility for their digital products.
FêCris Vasconcellos stepped into the role of AI Product Manager at Grupo Bandeirantes, co-leading initiatives to bring artificial intelligence into their products and workflows.
Alex Cooper was named Editor-in-Chief at The Advocate, bringing a strong product mindset to both digital and print leadership.
These aren’t isolated cases—they reflect what’s possible when professionals invest in deepening their product strategy, sharpening their leadership, and applying structured training to real-world challenges.
NPMC alumni gain a strong foundation in product thinking, the ability to lead cross-functional teams, and the strategic mindset needed to navigate complexity and deliver impact at scale.
