NPA launches news product thinking Resource Library!
Over 300 curated news product resources available to journalists and newsrooms in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Supported by the Google News Initiative, we at the NPA are proud to launch the initial version of our Resource Library, a searchable, curated database of hundreds of free news product resources. The Library is built on the collective knowledge and generosity of the NPA Slack community of practitioners.
Based on feedback from our community, the ongoing Library project addresses our community’s most common challenges and learning preferences. The Library’s materials cover topics ranging from design thinking to revenue optimization, from stakeholder management to analytics and more. The Resource Library was curated by a team of journalists with experience in news product which has gathered educational resources in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Users will be able to search the Library as a database, using detailed filters organized by level of complexity, topic, type and other categories. Moreover, our community can follow dedicated Learning Paths for mastering specific topics such as 'how to get started with product thinking', 'how to apply user feedback to your product', and more. They can also find original content created by NPA as part of their Product Kit series and other projects
"The News Product Resource Library is a treasure trove for anyone interested in learning more about how to make their journalism fit for purpose in the digital age", said Marco Túlio Pires, from the Google News Initiative. "This body of knowledge will keep on growing with curation from the community and original content produced by the NPA – we can't wait to put it in the hands of journalists all around the world."
Over a period of months, the NPA team of curators researched and gathered relevant and impactful resources contributed by our NPA members in order to ensure news product thinkers can efficiently and conveniently access valuable professional resources.
“This is a first step toward building a knowledge hub for product thinkers around the world. Is a community effort that puts us closer to building a sustainable and ethical future for journalism around the world”, shared Felicitas Carrique, Executive Director of the News Product Alliance.
Additionally, we will continue to make improvements to the platform and are commissioning and editing original content that will be launched within the coming months. As NPA expands its educational content database, the Library will be the hub where our community can find all of those resources. You can directly contribute to it by adding other resources here, which our team will review on an ongoing basis.
